We offer the safest possible online credit card payment
Credit card security is an extremely important issue when shopping online, and many customers are concerned about entering their card details on websites they have not used before. For that reason we have chosen the safest possible method of handling credit card payments.
We do not store any credit card details whatsoever. In fact when you pay by credit card we don't even see the credit card details that you enter. To achieve this the payment is authorized with our payment processor - TD Canada Trust - in real time when you place your order. We receive an immediate automatic response to confirm that the payment has been approved. When your order details are then stored in our system we simply record that the payment has been approved - it's not necessary for us to store any of your credit card details. This offers you the highest possible security when ordering online with your credit card.
Our payment partner is TD Canada Trust
For the highest possible security we have chosen TD Merchant Services, part of The Toronto-Dominion Bank, as our partner for credit card processing. They are a Canadian-owned and -operated payment solutions provider that has been established - and trusted - in the payment solutions industry for over 30 years. The moment you submit your online order on our website your credit card details are transferred securely to their processing system. And from that moment on the card details are stored in their system, we keep no record whatsoever of your credit card details.
What if my order is changed or cancelled after my credit card has been charged?
You can change or cancel your order any time before it ships. If you remove items from the order or cancel it then we will issue a prompt refund to your credit card, if you decide to add items then we can issue what is called a "Repeat-Sale" charge. We don't see your credit card details at any point when doing this, but our payment processor - TD Canada Trust - does allow us to modify the transaction or issue a new charge on the same credit card.
What if I order by mail, email or phone and give my credit card number?
If you order by mail, email or phone then of course we do see your credit card details. We do not store them however - we authorize the payment directly in the TD Canada Trust payment system, and store no record whatsoever of your credit card details.
For security reasons we always recommend that you order online on a secure website and that you do not give out your credit card details (to us or to any other website) via email or regular mail.
Is it fair to charge my credit card immediately if the order doesn't ship out for some time?
More than half of the orders we receive are shipped the same day, and on average we ship orders out in 2 days or less. So for most orders charging your credit card when the order is placed means that it is only charged a few hours sooner than it would be charged it we waited until we shipped your order. And the added advantage is that if you accidentally enter a wrong card number or expiry date, or if there's any other problem charging your card, you find out about it immediately and can correct it so there's no delay processing the order.
Of course we do offer items that are out-of-stock and may take a week or more before we're able to ship them. And in some cases we offer popular items for pre-order several weeks before they're in stock. But the only way we could wait and charge your credit card when the order ships would be to store your credit card details in our system. Many shops do this, but this of course opens so many possibilities for the card data to be misused, so we believe by far the safest system for our customers is to charge your card automatically when you place the order and never store any card details whatsoever.
What if I still don't want to enter my credit card details?
We fully understand that some customers simply do not want to enter their credit card details on websites they do not know well. That's why we have chosen to also accept PayPal payment, rather than just accepting credit cards as many shops do. PayPal is a global leader in online payment solutions, and through PayPal you can pay for your GoCellular order by credit card or directly from your bank account without sharing your financial information with us.
Registering with PayPal is quick and free, and we cover the PayPal fees so it doesn't cost you anything to make a payment with PayPal. You can find out more about how PayPal works here.
